1- In Koha > Cataloging > Item Modification
Scan barcodes from books on cart
Click Continue
Sort by Total Checkouts
copy and paste all rows and columns that correspond with an Item with checkout/use history
(from upper left corner of relevant data to lower right corner) :
2 - Paste data to Notepad
launder data (copy and paste from Notepad) to:
3 - Excel > new spreadsheet
paste data into top left cell
format barcode cells to: "number" ; decimal places "0"
sort table by call number
4 - GO Back to Koka > Batch Editing
Unselect all the entries that were just laundered to spreadsheet table
change remaining records to:
7-Not For Loan "Out for Review"
8c-Shelving Location "Decision Shelves"
Click Save
5-GO Back to spreadsheet table
Go to each book on Cart that is listed on spreadsheet:
Check for level of damage:
a-full rebind (3-4 days)
b-partial re-cover (1-2 days)
c-minor repair (<1 day)
d-WTF (needs full replacement or biohazard dump)
For books that AREN'T Damaged: copy call# for re-print, remove from list
For books that ARE Damaged, on the spreadsheet, in column next to barcode:
assign number based on used and level of damage: i.e. 1a, 2d, 26c, ...
Copy remaining barcodes column
5- GO Back to Koha > Cataloging > Item Modification
paste barcodes
Click Continue
change records to:
4-"Damaged"
8c-Shelving Location "Tech Services"
8y-Koha Item Type "March Edit Export Transfer"
Click Save
6-GO back to Koha > Cataloging > Export Catalog Data
Select Koha Item Type "March Edit Export Transfer"
Click Export Bibliographic Records
7-Open downloaded MRK file (MARCEDIT will automatically open)
Select "Execute"
Click "Edit"
Find & Replace "yMEET" with "yBOOK"
In the Add/Edit Field Utility: add Field "590"
add Field Data "\\$acujkmdam1 a"
select Add Field
Save file as MRC (you don't have to save the MRK unless you want to)
8- a. GO back to Koha > Cataloging > Stage MARC Records for Import
b. Select Koha Item Type "March Edit Export Transfer"
c. Upload saved MRC file
d. Record Matching Rule "999c..."
e. Check for Embedded item record data: "Yes"
f. How to Process Items: "Replace Items if Matching Bib was found ..."
g. Click Stage for Import
h. Click View Batch after it finishes processing
i. Select 'Import this Batch into catalog'
j. Edit Each Record with the appropriate 590 cujkmdam# #
