Drums & Percussion

Hello drummers and percussionists!  Looking for some unique ideas and instruction on percussion and drum set? Check these videos out from drummer Ronnie Kaufman and others (song: Smooth Talkin'):

Ronnie Kaufman - Demonstrator

Want a Zoom clinic?  Text Ronnie first at ‭(323) 385-5706. Use my name and "I saw your videos..." Note - it'll be good to offer some coin as his playing is his livelihood.

Below are some videos I preselected on YouTube that shows homemade percussion instruments.

Personally, for this Virtual Groove Video Project, I don’t think Smooth Talkin’ is above ANY secondary student of normal facilities… even with NO experience with percussion.  Don’t underestimate them — just say Do It! And let them go... just let them go.

It does not have to be perfect or even close to perfect — just groove with feeling which comes from playing the tracks/parts many times. Any improvisation is OK. Seriously. Turn them loose and you’ll see. No reading is necessary. But I provided parts that want to explore literacy.

Randy Watson - Elementary Music Teacher at Fort Morgan School District

Online music instruction for Baker elementary school, Fort Morgan, Colorado. This is an exploration of every day items found in the kitchen that can be used as rhythm or percussion instruments

From Brigham:

I've always liked when things around the house unintentionally make musical sounds. I decided to smack some jars and lay down some jams with a few random objects.

Things he used:

aluminum tin, glass oatmeal jar with metal lid, plastic water jug, rubber band wrapped around wooden box, metal CD rack, large saw, smaller saw, tennis racquet

Recycled Instrument Percussion Band

Have you ever seen anyone drumming with his teeth??

A totally WOW factor percussion band that perform a show filled with life, QWERKY-ness, passion and comedy.

This trio recycled percussion show has the ability to awaken a bored audience at an event or attract a HUGE crowd for a street promotional campaign.

Besides the totally gobsmacking show these friendly drummers can also give workshops at any events.
