Overview:

Your job will be to analyze a dataset which we will provide you (dataset will appear on this page). While this is a methods course, we expect you to write an APA style paper. This will require you to do a bit of research to write the introduction and to contextualize the findings.

Your work will be peer marked. Six of your peers will mark your essay & your grade will be the average of their assessments. Make sure you write persuasively and objectively :). We will also be using Turnitin to make sure that papers adhere to York University's Senate Policy on Academic Honesty.

Use JASP to analyze your data & Excel or JASP to produce relevant plots

Your should include (see template above):

• An abstract (no more than 150 words) that summarizes the main contribution of the paper
• An introduction (no more than 2 pages) which summarizes the literature in the field & situates your research problem within this context
• A methods section which provides details about participants, the procedure (how was data collected) etc.
• A results section which contains your descriptive and inferential statistics and any visualizations you create
• A discussion section where you analyze whether your results support or oppose the findings in the literature & where you discuss any limitations of the current design & what future researchers might want to consider and how your research contributes to the field as a whole.
