ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
The West Bengal Power Development corporation is a premier Enterprise in the domain of generation of electricity in the country. One of it's wings is Bakreswar Thermal Power Station which has ushered in new hopes and possibilities as far as the industrial progress of the district of Birbhum is concerned.
As part of its CSR policy the power station has rendered yeoman's service to the socio economic development of the surrounding localities. By the benevolent acts of charity doled out by the organization from time to time the quality of life in the vicinity has greatly improved. The people in the neighborhood depends directly or indirectly on the power station for a living.
The most significant contribution to the process of the local populace has been through the establishment of the school, BkTpp Prabir Sengupta Vidyalaya (HS) at the BkTpp premises.
The school is affiliated to WBBSE and WBCHSE. It is managed by WBPDCL.
The school had a humble beginning. It started with just a few students at a quarters in the BkTpp township. It shifted to a grand building at a later time and was formally inaugurated on 22nd August,1997. Its recognition as high school came in the year 1999 and the higher secondary section offering both science and arts streams was introduced in 2002.
At present, BkTpp Prabir Sengupta Vidyalaya (HS) is a co -educational institution where both Bengali and English medium sections are run simultaneously. In about two decades of its existence the school has achieved a lot. With respect to academic records as well as co-curricular activities the school has many a feather in its cap. The school has found a rank within the first ten in Madhyamik Pariksha for three consecutive years. Some of its students have excelled in the district level sports competitions. A few have done exceedingly well in dance or drama competitions.
Good infrastructure, state-of-the-art teaching methodologies, availability of resources and teaching learning materials, competent faculty in every discipline have turned the school into an excellent center of learning. It draws a good number of students every year even from distant places. And the success of the school can be measured by a study of the success of the students who have passed out of it.
