Young Democratic Socialists of America

Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) is a national student organization fighting for the rights of workers and students, while building our capacity to fight for radical and structural changes. The work YDSA does extends past our campuses and seeks to benefit our broader communities.

Our chapter here at PSU is no different! We're campaigning for the disarmament of Campus Public Safety Officers (CPSO), supporting the unionization of Student Workers, joining the fight against ICE invading our community, giving Power back to the People, and fighting against austerity and oligarchy. 

We acknowledge that the police are utilized not as a genuine tool of keeping people safe, but as a tool to repress working people who demand change, and a force of racial oppression which keeps workers segregated and pushes Black and Brown people into the most oppressed sectors of the working class.

We align ourselves with the Workers Deserve More program, advocating for a fight against police brutality and the demilitarization of police. PSU-YDSA also demands that all future decisions on the changes regarding the practice of policing be subject to a vote by all students and staff at PSU.
