Getting to Athens via plane

The main airport serving Athens is the Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos. This is the main international airport of Greece, so it should be easy to find flights from most European and non-European countries.

From the airport to Athens

There are a few options to get from the airport to downtown Athens:

• Metro: Line 3 (blue line) of the Athens Metro can take you from the aiport to the city, including the central Syntagma Square. The trains stop at the railway station which is adjacent to the main terminal of the airport (reachable by walkway), run every 30 minutes and take approximately 30 minutes to reach the city center. A one-way ticket of 9 euros is required and can be purchased at the station.  

• Bus: The X95 bus runs from the airport to Syntagma Square. It departs every 15-20 minutes from the arrivals level (between exits 4 and 5) and takes approximately 60 minutes to reach downtown Athens, depending on traffic congestion. A one-way ticket costs 6 euros.

• Taxi: Athens taxis have a set fare for the trip from Athens Airport to Athens city center: 42 euros during the daytime and 55 euros at night. The ride takes approximately 40 minutes, again depending on traffic.

There are limitless choices for accommodation, both in terms of hotels and Airbnb, in the area of the venue, as it is located in downtown Athens. One may also search for either type of accommodation in the touristic area of Plaka, 1.5 – 2 km walking distance from the venue, or in the more residential area of Pagrati, approximately 1km from the venue.
