HOW TO REACH TRIESTE AND THE CONFERENCE VENUE
Airport connections:
Trieste has a small airport with a few direct connections, e.g., Frankfurt, London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Dublin, Rome, Milan. Trieste airport is connected by train (approx. 30') to the city of Trieste. After 22.00, one may consider a taxi or a shared taxi (see "Taxi companies" below).
If you come from abroad, you may consider the following airports: Venice Marco Polo (approx. 2.5h by bus + train from Trieste) or either one of three airports in Milan: Linate, Malpensa, or Bergamo-Orio al Serio (approx. 5h by bus and/or train from Trieste).
Trains: High-speed trains to Trieste may be found on the following companies' websites: Italo, Trenitalia, OBB, DB. (If coming from Austria, changing train in Udine may be faster than the direct train.) For Trieste Airport - Trieste Centrale, train tickets may be bought in loco or online here (one-way ticket €4.60).
Coaches: For long-distance couches, check the following websites: Flixbus, Itabus.
Public transportation: Residence Le Terrazze is a 5-10 minute walk from Trieste train station. The math building is on a hill, easily reachable by bus (lines 17, 17/, 51, 4, 3). In order to buy bus tickets, the best option is to download the app TplFVG and create an account. Alternatively, you may find ticket machines spread around the city (e.g., in Piazza Oberdan).
Taxi Companies: GoOpti is a good shared taxi option connecting Trieste Airport and Trieste Train Station. This might be a good solution to book in advance if you know, e.g., that your flight may land late at night. Alternatively, classical taxi options are available by phone here or directly outside the airport and the train station (one-way 75€ ca.).
SOCIAL DINNER
There will be a social dinner on Wednesday, September 11. It is possible to bring people not registered to the conference.
