PSLA Intellectual Freedom Task Group Goals

  • monitor intellectual freedom issues in the Commonwealth.

  • provide information, guidance and support to school libraries and librarians in which a book or other information is challenged and serve as a conduit for intellectual freedom materials generated by the American Library Association and other reliable sources.

  • generate original materials that may be of use to Pennsylvania school librarians in helping to better educate themselves and their patrons about intellectual freedom matters.

  • support and provide information about additional intellectual freedom principles such as policy and procedure development, student privacy, etc.

  • promote greater awareness among PSLA members of intellectual freedom and censorship of libraries and librarians.
