Background
Mental health is a topic that has become more and more relevant as time goes on. Addiction is a mental condition that is as unique as it is difficult to treat. Currently in the medical world, substantive treatments for addiction are virtually non existent. There is a desire for doctors and medical professionals to find some cure that can effectivly treat the brain and potentially cure addiction, and a substance that is promising is the use of Psilocybin.
What is Psilocybin?
Psilocybin, more commonly referred to colloquially as "Magic Mushrooms" or "Shrooms", is the psychedelic chemical found in a certain species of mushroom. It causes hallucinations and throughout history has been used for recreational, meditative, and medical purposes. There are many reasons for why this treatment has not been explored in depth until recently, but is now becoming a possibility. This doesn't come without its controversy and this treatment is met with praise and fear from people due to its potential.
