I am a Clinical Psychologist and a Sexual Counsellor with an approach of Modern Individual and Group Psychoanalysis.
My work experience varies from research to clinical work, in the fields of mental health, violence and sexology.
I have a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Padua in Italy, I studied sexual counselling in Rome at the "Scuola di sessuologia Clinica" and I have been living for some years in Lower Saxony, in Hanover. I'm also often in Milan to deepen my knowledge of psychoanalysis.
I like to define myself as an European citizen, I can speak English, German and decent Spanish along with my mother tongue, Italian.
Looking for a psychologist in Germany who speaks English? Not to mention, with a short waiting list? You've come to the right place!
Moving to Germany can be difficult for many expats. Besides the many challenges that a new country brings, there is often a feeling of loneliness and alienation from the new society and culture into which we have been plunged.
Human beings are not particularly skilled when it comes to change, and adapting to a new environment can take a toll on our mental health.

Do days without seeing the sun affect your mood and attention span? Do you have FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) on sunny days?
Sunlight is essential for regulating the release of a key hormone: serotonin. It is associated with high mood, calmness and better concentration.
Decreased sun exposure can lead to Depression, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Sleep-Wake Cycle Disorders, Anxiety and Panic Attacks.
The first word one should learn in German is 'Termin'. Everything needs an appointment, and consequently people are always busy and you have to 'book' them weeks in advance. And often, when you would like to have a 'spontan' happy hour in the city centre or a chat with colleagues from work or university, you find yourself alone on your doorstep.
Sometimes we feel lonely, even on a night out with friends, when we feel that no one cares about us and that there is no one we can count on here.
Loneliness is not to be underestimated; it is one of the most dangerous diseases of our century. It raises cortisol (stress hormone) levels with adverse effects on our mental and physical health, leading to an increased risk of Anxiety, Depression, Low Self-Esteem, Hypertension, Stress and Sleep problems.
"Italian? Pizza, Pasta, Jammeja! "
"Spanish? Puedo haber una Corrida, una Paella, una Cervesa pour Favour?"
Do you sometimes feel judged for your ethnicity? Have you ever asked yourself the question during a conversation "but isn't this a bit racist?"
Othering, the English term for 'making other' is a sociological phenomenon widespread in our society. It is a way, sometimes unintentional, of establishing a boundary and defining a person, group or culture as different, detached, 'other' precisely.
Being treated as 'different' has an impact on our social life and mental health. Chronic stress can make us feel trapped in a hostile environment, can lead us to abandon life projects and is related to problems such as Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management and Avoidant Behaviour.
What is the difference between scrolling through your favourite social network, a coffee and a cigarette?
Scientific studies on new addictions name several new 'drugs' including mobile phones, gambling and compulsive shopping. But these are things that are easily accessible and socially encouraged, like alcohol, coffee and cigarettes, they are not so bad, are they?
The development of an addiction causes changes in the functioning of the brain. In the case of technological addictions, these are given by repetitive behaviours that, although they provide immediate gratification, are not without long-term negative effects.
As in substance addiction, we also find symptoms of: Mood alteration, Anxiety, Tolerance (we need more and more), Craving (sudden and predominant craving), Uncontrollability that damages our routine, Abstinence (we cannot live without it), Cross-dependence (switching from one addiction to another), Relapse (we easily fall back on it), Persistence of the behaviour despite the negative sides.
Years of experience in counselling centres with people who have experienced violence has shown me that many of us experience violence in our daily lives, in our relationships with people close to us: in the group of friends, in the family, at school or at work.
But what impact does it have in our lives?
Violence has been the subject of much research, which has portrayed it as a circle, to signify that it is a transgenerational experience that we pass on, against our will, within our family, whether by blood or choice.
Can one break out of this circle? Yes, with the help of an expert to help understand the mechanisms and guide you towards a new future.
Sexuality is taboo for some people, others struggle to be able to talk about it freely, and then there are those who manage to create a world in which they experience it serenely.
As an expert in the field of the psychology of sexuality, some common topics include sex education for young and old, sexual orientation, gender identity, puberty, sexual dysfunction, decreased libido, relationship problems and many other imporatant topics.
