Exordium is an app built for giving better insight to the resources present in GRD Memorial Library. It provides information regarding the statistics of books, floor wise details, events, subscriptions, access to OPAC and Scopus search facility.

The data are dynamic in nature i.e. the admins can make alterations in data to make it more meaningful to the users. Staff images are stored in Firebase whereas the User manual is stored in Google Drive.  The maintainability of the application lies in the hands of admins who can constantly update the data as and when they could. This will ensure the data are consistent with other sources. Analytics are available in the console of Firebase.

By logging into the respective account, one can get interesting and useful insights about the count of users, the pages used frequently and the queries asked frequently in chatbot. The google play console can also be used to manage statistics related to the app on Play Store.

Authority 

Admins

The Professor In-Charge of the Library and Chief Librarians are the members pertaining to the role of Admin. The Admins with their credentials(Gmail ID and Password)   are authorized to use the admin page of the mobile application to access the database(Firebase). These can also be done using the consoles provided in Firebase and web pages respectively using the same credentials.

In the Firebase Console, Admins are authorized to modify(add/delete) contents of the database, add/delete users based on their activity, send notifications and change roles of the users between PSGians and Non-PSGians/Alumni.

The Credentials to all of these consoles are the same and provided under one Gmail account. If necessary, Admins can change the password of the Gmail Account by the usual resetting process. All the payment options are carried out with the same Credentials of the Gmail Account.

All the necessary steps and guides for the respective consoles are provided in the Technical Manual of Exordium which will always be under the knowledge of the Admins. Admins can edit the User Manual which is available in Exordium’s Google Drive.

PSG Students and Faculties(PSGians)

The Students and Faculties of PSG College of Technology and PSG Polytechnic College are the members pertaining to the role of PSGians. Only after the first successful registration into the application all are authenticated and authorized and can use all the facilities provided by the application such as knowledge of all resources and information about the library and also chatbot interactions.

Non-PSGian and Alumni

The Users belonging to other institutions(i.e Outside of PSG College of Technology and PSG Polytechnic College) and the Alumni of  (PSGCT/PSG PTC)  are the members pertaining to this category of users. These Users on successful registration into the app have access to all the resources of the app including chatbot interactions except that they cannot navigate to and access the subscriptions made by the Library but can just view.

The Steps and Guide that are required to use the app are provided in a User Manual as a Google PDF link inside the Application in the AboutPage(HomePage).

User Control and Restriction Policy

Limitation of Users Count

Limitation of users count is not possible because the app is available in playstore and anyone can download and use the app. But, still the inactive user accounts can be deleted manually in the authentication page of firebase.

Access Control

The access control of users (deleting the accounts of passed out students) can be done manually in the authentication page of firebase or by bringing an update to the admin view of the app (to delete user accounts).

Application Improvement Policy

Revision of Content

The feedback received from the app users are to be taken into consideration and are to be discussed for scope of possible updates and improvement of the application. The dynamic data are also revised periodically for the consistency of data displayed in the application.
