Try to imagine yourself back to 1600 to ask: Does it make sense to think that ...
... an object twice as heavy as another would fall twice as fast?
... if the earth were spinning, we would be thrown off it?
... objects need a continuous push of some sort to keep moving?
... the sun revolves around the earth?
Galileo wrote "Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems" in dialogue form and in Italian. Why would he do that rather than writing an exposition in scholarly Latin?
