PhilSys Pampanga Holds Successful 4Ps Verification and PhilSys Registration Drive
16 April 2024– Marcos Village, Mabalacat City. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) collaborated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to conduct a four-day authentication process for existing beneficiaries of the 4Ps program in Barangay Marcos Village, Mabalacat City. This initiative aimed to streamline authentication while simultaneously registering residents for the PhilSys program.
The event saw a significant turnout, with many residents participating in the verification process. Notably, even children aged 1-4 years old were registered for PhilSys, ensuring their inclusion in the program from a young age. The combined effort resulted in the successful authentication of 224 individuals for the 4Ps program and the registration of 311 residents for PhilSys.
Among the participants were a group of indigenous people (IPs) residing in Haduan Village and Calapi Negrito. Due to the remote location of their communities, obtaining government-issued IDs often proves challenging. The extended registration hours, stretching until 8:30 pm on some days, aimed to accommodate everyone despite their location. To manage the large crowd effectively, the team implemented a queuing system, ensuring an orderly flow throughout the event.
However, a hurdle emerged during the verification process – the lack of identification documents for some IPs. Recognizing the challenges faced by this community, the team displayed flexibility and resourcefulness. They resourced to alternative documents like barangay certifications as proof of identity, allowing these individuals to participate in the program. This approach ensured inclusivity and prevented unnecessary delays for the IPs.
The team's professionalism and preparedness were evident throughout the event. Their training equipped them to handle unforeseen situations like the lack of IDs, ensuring a smooth registration process for all participants. Additionally, the barangay's cooperation in providing alternative verification methods proved invaluable to the success of the initiative.
Overall, the 4Ps verification and PhilSys registration drive in Barangay Marcos Village was a success. The combined efforts of the PSA, DSWD, and the barangay officials not only streamlined the authentication process but also expanded access to the PhilSys program for a wider segment of the community, including children and indigenous residents. This collaborative approach paves the way for future initiatives aimed at promoting social welfare and inclusivity.
