Many Pakistani students studied in South Korean universities. This number of Pakistani students in South Korea started to increased rapidly in 2006 when Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan started to send students for Master level studies in many universities of South Korea and signed MOU for this purpose. Prior to 2006 some of the Pakistani students were already pursing higher education degree from Seoul National University, KAIST, Ajou etc. but the number of students were in tens.
The reputation build by many scholars led to the influx of Pakistani students in many universities of South Korea and most of these students stipend, living and tuition fees were supported by the graduate research fund in the universities.
At the end of 2008, the students with help of Pakistan Embassy in Korea started to organize their own association named as Pakistan Students & Scholars Association in Korea.
Many of these students are now currently working in Pakistan. Aim of the "Pakistan Korea Alumni Network" is to organize and lead these alumni to advance technical collaboration and development between Pakistan and Korea. By working together as a group, sharing the work load, a lot can be done by these elite highly educated and technically skill people. One such goal is to initiate joint research project with the help of there Korean supervisor and mentors in Pakistan. This will also benefit Korea in terms of business and technological research & development.
