While no error code is shown at the time, going into the dedicated error code portion of the system menu produces CE-10005-6. According to the PlayStation Support website, that specific error code does not exist. In fact, after scouring the internet, I have yet to see another person with the same issue. However, there seem to be many other issues plaguing launch systems, including a similar but different database corruption issue and those tied to external storage devices. Making matters worse, PlayStation support has been swamped with calls. After contacting text support, I was told I needed to call phone support. While waiting on hold for PlayStation 5 support, I was greeted by an automated message that my call will not be answered, and I need to hang up and call another day.

If there are smudges or scratches on your game disc, this could also trigger error code CE-10005-6. In other words, those smudges or scratches prevent your console from reading the information from the game disc. As a result, the console fails to copy and transfer the information to its drive.

Sony confirmed that error CE-10005-6 indicates there was a problem reading the disc. The company advises users to restart their consoles. If that did not work, unplug the power cable and leave your console unplugged for two minutes. After that, you can plug the power cord back in and power up your device again.

As a quick reminder, if your PS5 console stays online while installing your game from your disc, it will automatically download the most recent game updates as well. And it does that before installing the game completely. It appears this behavior may sometimes trigger various errors. So, the best way to avoid them is to install your games offline.

I've bought the game physically and it managed to install the base game that allows me to play the game. There is an extra download after that however where an error continuously comes up and won't install properly. I have tried practically everything and even tried on a friends ps5 and it always errors when it gets to 18 gigs. I even bought a second copy of the game and errors the same way. Has anyone else had this issue?

I'm having the exact same issue, disc tries to install and stops at around 18GB. I get error code CE-10005-6 which is apparently a disc read issue but the disc is brand new and clean. I've tried other discs and they are still working fine. Might be a problem on their end that hopefully they sort out soon.

Have to say, kinda makes me worried I'm going to find out one of my many physical PS5 games is actually just useless plastic whenever I get around to finally installing and playing them, which could be years after I bought them... Hasn't happened to me yet, touch on wood. My own concerns aside, I do seem to remember some people with "faulty" JoJo disc actually reporting on them working after some time, so it may possibly be some kind of blu-ray authentication error rather than an actual issue with the disc? Just speculation of course, but hopefully everyone's Wanted: Dead discs do just miraculously start working at some point. Or, if it is indeed an issue with a patch/update, rather than the game disc, that gets fixed eventually.
