Privacy Policy — Pruva

1. Introduction
Pruva ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Pruva nautical navigation mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
By using Pruva, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information When you register, we collect your email address, username, and password (stored as an encrypted hash). You may optionally provide your full name, phone number, country, and age.
Boat & Activity Data Information you enter about your boats, fuel logs, maintenance records, moorings, and voyage logs.
Community Content Reviews, comments, and check-ins you submit for anchorages. This content is visible to other Pruva users.
Location Data With your permission, we access your device location to show nearby anchorages and provide weather alerts. See Section 5 for details.
Usage Data Anonymous statistics about how you use the app (feature interactions, crash reports) to help us improve. This data cannot identify you personally.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and improve the Pruva app
Show relevant anchorages, marinas, and points of interest near you
Display weather forecasts and safety alerts
Enable community features such as check-ins and reviews
Process and manage your subscription through Apple
Respond to your support requests
Send push notifications (only if you grant permission)
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers in the European Union. We protect your information using:
HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
Bcrypt hashing for passwords — we never store plain-text passwords
Secure JWT tokens for authentication
Regular security monitoring and updates
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Offline map data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
5. Location Data
Pruva requests location access to:
Center the map on your current position
Show nearby anchorages, marinas, fuel stations, and services
Provide location-based weather and safety alerts
Log departure and arrival coordinates in voyage records
Location access is optional. You can use the app without granting location permission by navigating the map manually.
We request "While Using the App" location by default. Background location is only used if you enable storm alert notifications, and you can revoke this at any time in your device Settings app.
We do not share your precise location with third parties or use it to build advertising profiles.
6. Third-Party Services
Pruva uses the following third-party services to deliver its features:
Open-Meteo — Marine weather data provider. We send your coordinates to retrieve forecasts. No personal information is shared. (open-meteo.com)
OpenSeaMap / OpenStreetMap — Nautical chart tiles and anchorage data. Map requests include approximate coordinates only.
Apple App Store — All subscription payments are processed by Apple. Pruva never receives or stores your payment card details.
Railway — Cloud hosting for our servers and database, located in the EU (Europe West).
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction — Update or correct inaccurate information in your profile
Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Portability — Export your voyage logs, fuel records, and boat data
Withdraw Consent — Revoke location or notification permissions at any time via device settings
To delete your account, go to Settings → Delete Account in the app, or contact us directly.

8. Subscriptions and Payments
Pruva Pro subscriptions are managed by Apple through the App Store. We do not process payments directly and never see your payment card information.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings at any time
After cancellation, Pro features remain active until the end of the paid period
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy
9. Children's Privacy
Pruva is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

10. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Anonymous usage statistics may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked to any individual.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect.
The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
