Mi nombre es Gabriela y soy miembro de la Tropa de Girl Scouts 5631. He sido parte de la tropa durante nueve años. Girl Scouts me ha enseñado cómo trabajar duro y ser un líder fuerte en mi comunidad. Durante mi tiempo libre, mis pasatiempos incluyen leer, escuchar música, hornear, pintar y esculpir esculturas de arcilla.

Decidí hacer este proyecto porque era estudiante del programa de español en MUSD y este tema me preocupa porque los programas de lectura en español están constantemente bajo la amenaza de desaparecer. Mi proyecto servirá como un complemento que ayudará a enriquecer y fortalecer las habilidades de lectura y ayudará a mantener el interés en la lectura. Este proyecto me motivó a usar mis habilidades bilingües para ayudar a los niños a mantener el interés en la lectura al presentarles libros nuevos y promover igualmente la conciencia de que la lectura es una habilidad necesaria para el éxito en la vida.

My name is Gabriela and I am a member of Girl Scout Troop 5631. I have been part of the troop for nine years now. Girl Scouts has taught me how to work hard and be a strong leader in my community. During my free time, my hobbies include reading, listening to music, baking, painting, and sculpting clay sculptures.

I decided to do this project because I was a student of Spanish program at MUSD and this issue concerns me because Spanish reading programs are consistently under threat of disappearing. My project will serve as a supplement that will help enrich and strengthen reading skills and will aid in sustaining interest in reading. This project motivated me to use my bilingual skills to help children maintain an interest in reading by introducing them to new books and equally promote awareness that reading is a necessary life skill for success.
