Working with Habitat for Humanity to build a foundation for a relationship with the Latinx communities of Stark County.

By translating signs, pamphlets, and informational packets, the 2,000+ monthly Latinx visitors to the ReStore will feel more comfortable and welcome stepping foot into a store and working with an organization that previously felt out of reach. Habitat has demonstrated that giving families the opportunity to buy/build their own home can lift them out of poverty, teach them valuable life skills, and set a precedent for their families for years to come.

The Latinx community is declined for conventional home loans at a rate that’s 7% higher than the national average. 27% of Latinx consumers are “credit invisible” or have an unscored credit report that preempts access to mortgage credit financing. Giving Latinx families access to Habitat is essential as it may represent a viable option to increase Latinx homeownership and reduces the inequalities they often face when buying a home.
Creating new homes in substandard communities increases the property value, creates new jobs, inspires other community members to renovate and preserve their homes, and directly increases the demand and economic prosperity within that community.
Entire communities come together to create Habitat homes. Having Habitat within any community increases unity, cohesion, and self-sufficiency.
