Dr. Chen received her Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, Equipment Committee, and Philanthropy Co-Chair of the UC Optometric Student Association. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with a minor in Psychology from UC San Diego.
She completed primary care and ocular disease externship at Kaiser Permanente, VA Southern Oregon, Alameda County Medical Center and Castle Family Health Centers where she provided eye care to patients with glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and other eye diseases. She is certified to diagnose and treat glaucoma, and has special interest in contact lens fittings.
While in optometry school, she traveled to Peru to provide eye exams and glasses to impoverished communities through the international organization Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. Prior to her returning home to California, Dr. Chen practiced in Chicago and Texas, in a wide variety of eye care settings including private practices, corporate and public school programs to improve the sights of children.
Dr. Chen enjoys hiking, family trips to the beach, exploring new places and spending time with her family and friends. She is happy to be part of the community and would like to meet each and every one of you for your eye care needs.
