This Privacy Policy describes how NextPixel Apps LLP ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and manages your information when you use the Protein Tracker mobile application (the "Application"). By using the Application, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
Certain features require you to provide photos or other content for AI-powered processing. We explain those features and your choices below.
APP STORE PRIVACY SUMMARY
This summary reflects how we describe our data practices on the Apple App Store.
Data linked to your identity:
User Content — meal photos you submit for AI Meal Scan; profile details you enter (such as name, weight, age group, activity level, and fitness focus); protein log entries, notes, custom foods, and related tracking content you create.
Data collected but not linked to your identity:
Purchases — subscription and in-app purchase information processed by Apple and RevenueCat.
Identifiers — anonymous app and subscription identifiers (such as a RevenueCat user ID).
Diagnostics — crash, performance, and usage diagnostic data to improve app reliability.
We do not use your data for cross-app advertising tracking.
I. DATA COLLECTION AND USE
A. Information You Provide
We may collect and store the following information you make available to us:
Profile information you enter during onboarding or in Settings (for example name, gender, age group, body weight, activity level, fitness focus, preferred units, appearance preference, and daily protein goal).
Protein log entries you add or edit (food name, protein amount, meal type, date/time, optional notes, and taste ratings).
Custom foods you create and save.
Meal photos you capture or select for the AI Meal Scan feature.
Reminder preferences you configure for meal notifications.
Award / achievement progress derived from your tracking activity.
Information you provide when you contact us for support (such as your email address and message content).
Account or subscription information managed via Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat (for example subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction metadata — we do not receive or store your full payment card details).
B. Information Collected Automatically
The Application and our service providers may collect and store additional information automatically, such as:
Device type, operating system version, app version, and language preference.
Anonymous app instance or subscription identifiers (including RevenueCat user IDs).
Diagnostic, crash, and performance data.
Information about how you use the Application (for example features accessed and session activity).
Approximate location derived from your IP address when you connect to our backend services for AI Meal Scan.
Push notification tokens, if you opt in to meal reminders.
Most of your tracking data is stored locally on your device (including profile, food logs, custom foods, achievements, reminder settings, and widget snapshots via an App Group). Data is sent off-device only when you use a feature that requires network processing (such as AI Meal Scan or subscription validation) or when you contact us for support.
C. How We Use This Information
We and our service providers may use this information to:
Operate, maintain, and improve the Application.
Calculate and display your daily protein progress, streaks, history, stats, awards, and related insights.
Estimate meal name and nutrition values from photos you submit to AI Meal Scan.
Generate on-device personalized insights where Apple Intelligence / on-device language models are available.
Manage subscriptions, restore purchases, and provide customer support.
Send meal reminder notifications you enable.
Analyze usage trends, diagnose errors, and improve our products and services.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Educational estimates only: Nutrition values from our food database and AI Meal Scan are estimates for informational and tracking purposes. They are not medical advice and are not a substitute for professional nutrition or healthcare guidance. Food values may vary by brand, preparation, and portion size. Our recommended protein goal method references publicly available sports nutrition research (including ISSN-related literature), and bundled food values are informed by public nutrition datasets such as USDA FoodData Central.
II. USE OF THIRD-PARTY AI SERVICES (IMPORTANT)
A. AI Meal Scan (cloud)
The Application’s AI Meal Scan feature is powered by third-party Artificial Intelligence ("AI") services. When you use AI Meal Scan, the meal photo you submit may be transmitted to:
Google Gemini (Google LLC)
Meal photos you submit (typically as a compressed JPEG), processed via our backend.
Purpose: Estimate meal name, protein, calories, carbohydrates, and related ingredients.
Requests are routed through our backend (Cloudflare Workers), which forwards content to the selected AI provider and returns the analysis result to you.
We do not intentionally send your name, email address, Apple ID, contacts, precise GPS location, full food history, or payment details to these AI providers with your meal photo. Do not submit photos containing sensitive personal information you do not wish to be processed by a third-party AI service.
B. Apple Intelligence insights (on-device)
Where supported by your device and system settings, the Application may use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence to generate personalized protein insights from summary tracking context (for example recent totals, streak, and goal progress). This processing is designed to run on your device and is subject to Apple’s system privacy controls and availability.
C. Your explicit consent
In compliance with Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.2(i), the Application requests your permission / consent before transmitting meal photos to a third-party AI provider for processing. You may stop using AI Meal Scan at any time; features that require third-party AI processing will not send photos unless you choose to use them.
D. How AI providers use your data
Google Gemini API: Does not use API-submitted data to improve its models for standard/paid API usage under applicable terms. See: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and https://policies.google.com/privacy
Apple Intelligence / on-device models: Subject to Apple’s privacy disclosures and device settings. See: https://www.apple.com/privacy/
We encourage you to review these providers’ privacy policies before using AI-powered features.
III. ANALYTICS AND DIAGNOSTICS
The Application is not supported by third-party advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
We may use analytics, crash reporting, and diagnostic tools (including our IndieHQ platform and related backend services, where enabled) to understand how the Application is used, improve reliability, and respond to support requests. These tools may collect device type, app version, feature usage, error logs, and anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers. This data is treated as not linked to your identity on the App Store.
You can review your device’s privacy settings (including notification permissions) to control optional data sharing.
IV. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Application may use or link to third-party services that are not owned or controlled by NextPixel Apps LLP, including Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and Google. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites or services. Your use of those services is subject to their respective policies.
The Application may also link to third-party educational references (for example research articles or USDA FoodData Central). Visiting those links is optional and subject to the destination site’s policies.
V. CHILDREN
We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided us with information without consent, please contact us at contact@nextpixelapps.in and we will take steps to delete such information.
VI. SHARING INFORMATION
We may share information:
With third-party AI providers (Google Gemini), when you use AI Meal Scan, solely to analyze the meal photo you submit.
With service providers who work on our behalf, such as Cloudflare (backend infrastructure), RevenueCat (subscription management), and IndieHQ (analytics, diagnostics, and in-app support, where enabled).
When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, investigate fraud, or respond to a lawful request.
If NextPixel Apps LLP or the Application is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
VII. MANAGING YOUR INFORMATION
On your device
Profile data, food logs, custom foods, awards, reminder settings, and related preferences are stored on your device (including App Group storage used by widgets). You can edit or delete individual log entries, change profile details in Settings, or use Settings → Delete All Data to remove locally stored tracking data from the Application.
Deleting the Application from your device generally removes locally stored Application data, subject to Apple’s system backup behavior.
Retention
We retain server-side information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Application, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Meal photos sent for AI Meal Scan are processed to return a result and are not intended to be retained by us as a lasting personal photo library. Server-side logs and diagnostic data may be disposed of on a rolling basis. Keep your own backups of content you wish to preserve (for example exported PDFs you create).
International transfers
Your information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in jurisdictions including the United States, India, and regions where our backend and AI providers operate. By using the Application, you consent to such transfer and processing.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect information we process. No security system can prevent all potential breaches.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you.
Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
Stop using AI Meal Scan (so meal photos are not sent for third-party AI processing).
Opt out of marketing communications.
Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
