Background
Clevedon Protection Society (CPS) was formed in 2017 following application for Resource Consent by Stevenson Aggregates Limited (previously Fulton Hogan) to significantly expand the Clevedon Quarry on McNichol Road, Clevedon. Resources Consent was ultimately granted by Auckland Council. This decision was then appealed to the Environment Court by CPS together with other interested parties in 2018 where a mediated settlement was made.
Since 2018, CPS has been actively involved in the Community Liaison Group (CLG) that was establish as a link between Stevenson Aggregate Limited, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, and the Clevedon community to manage the ongoing adverse effects of the quarry development.
CPS has also undertaken other community projects and been an interested parties to several other Resource Consent applications within the Clevedon community.
CPS is currently actively involved in the proposed Private Plan Change to rezone rural productive land into special quarry zone at Clevedon Quarry.
If you are interested in shaping the future of Clevedon and care for our unique country character and outstanding environment, we would love to hear from you. We are a group of like minded progressive community members doing our bit to ensure we shape our community for the next generation.
