The goals of Protect Andover Wildlife are simple: educate, advocate and support!
Educate local property owners on the harms of SGARs and the importance of shifting to non-poison alternatives, including Integrated Pest Management
Advocate for local regulations by:
Advocating with Andover's governance to prohibit the use of SGARs on public property with waivers available in instances of severe infestation as determined by the Board of Health.
Advocating before our Andover Town Meeting to request a Home Rule Petition (HRP) be filed to allow Andover to adopt a bylaw which would restrict the use of SGARs on private lands (residential and commercial).
Advocate for State-wide Legislation – H965/S644 to strictly regulate the use of SGARs across Massachusetts by advocating for pending rodenticide bills.
Support the Harvard Law Animal Policy Clinic petition to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) to immediately suspend the registrations of anticoagulant rodenticide products that are killing eagles, owls, and other wild animals throughout the Commonwealth.
We hope that once the residents of Andover know about SGARs they will want to lessen the impact of these poisons on our local and state-wide wildlife population.
