What is Model UN?
--> Model United Nation is the simulation of the United Nations. Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is a competitive and collaborative extra-curricular activity offered for Prosper ISD middle schoolers (7th & 8th grade) as well as high school students. Delegates (MUN participants get to step in the shoes of world leaders and represent countries while discussing and debating about worldwide issues.
What do students do? How do they benefit from this program?
Students research, speak, debate, and work in individually and in teams to formulate a solution to a given issue/crisis. Our program allows students to hone skills necessary for the real world (public speaking, researching, working with others, debating, and more. It also helps students understand what is happening in the real world. So many students are unaware of current events and one of our main goals is to make familiarize delegates aware. By doing so, students learn to also find ways to solve real world issues by stepping in the shoes of leaders while representing nations.
Why should I join?
You get to learn and work on skills that are not only required to be successful in high-school and higher education, but are also applied in the real world on an everyday basis. Students get a plethora of opportunity through this prestigious international program (i.e. traveling, meeting important people, making connections, winning awards, scholarships, and getting credit for them.)
