Paintball is one of the most enjoyable games played by people coming from almost all the age group, this game is one of the planned games which people play all through summers and all around the year.
Tournaments are arranged and selection is done, official players take parts, game is sponsored by the companies and many supporters gather to know the results. Paintball is making its place among all those who like but like any other game there is also a history behind Paintball.
The game came into existence in 1980s making it a few decades older; unlike many other games it’s still young. It started among few friends who played against each other and therefore soon the game got it’s fame but the real history dates back to 1960s when the first paintball gun or marker was created.
Nelson Paint company designed and formed the gun, it was named marker as its main purpose was to used by woodcutters or people from the similar occupation, to mark the trees by shooting at them with the paintball gun and setting the mark.
Shepherds also used these markers to mark the cattle back then. In the beginning the paints which were used were of oil-based.
Like the history tells, the first game was played in the summer of 1981, there were 12 players who played the game on the ground of almost 120 acres, and four colored flags were planted for each team.
The players used the paintball gun to attack their opponents, the main goal was to acquire the flag representing their team and the first one to get it would be the winner.
The players were all having paintball markers, helmets, and etc for their protection. It was observed that all the players used various strategies to win the game some use their mind while other used their physical power and some both. It was said that the winner of the game Ritchie White didn’t fire a single shot as he got the flags quietly.

After the game was played it gave a positive idea to all those who played the game and it included, writers, investors, surgeons, farmers, foresters etc. Bob Jones who was one of the players and a writer after playing the game wrote a piece about the game which was later published in a sport reporting media.
This led to another fortunate opportunity to the owner of a retail store who was player in the game as he started selling the equipments which were used in the game, namely guns, paintballs, goggles, and a rule book.
At the starting the paintball was called National Surviving Game, as it’s characteristic was to put down the opponent to win the game.
In early 1982, the owner of the same retail store expanded his business as he opened the first field with the cooperation of Nelson Paints who sponsored the game.
The fame of the game spread throughout the US and later paintball fields were made in various states. It was observed that other players also started setting up businesses related to the game and many other companies were formed which brought out the equipment needed for the game.
With the fame of the game Nelson Paints is now divided into two companies as well; Nelson Paints and Nelson technologies Inc.- which work with Nelson Paintballs.
By the 1990s the industry of the game brought a huge chunk of money in the market, as the game is of main interest of the teenager and from just the game it became as a favorite past time for many it was observed that the equipment for the game started selling out in the large retail stores.
It is considered that as much as the number of teenagers will grew in the US the market for the game will also expand, as now it is building its own industry which is coming out as one of the most successful one.
As paintball is reaching the height of fame and has many supporters, the game is also played in many competitive tournaments. First and the major game happened in 1983, just two years after the birth of the game and the teams were who played the game were from Canada.
The game has changed since its starting, in the beginning the paintballs were of oil based but now they use gelatin coating with vegetable oil and dye.
There are much more modifications, like glow in the dark paint and paint for cold weather has also been introduced.
Other than the paint modification in the beginning players were used to have Carbon dioxide as their air supply which would not let the gun to be played for a longer time and hence in the end players have to keep reloading and clearing the jammed gun which would create much trouble for the players and a lot of their time would be wasted.
If we go in the history of the gun which go way back that the first game we’ll find that the guns or the markers as they are called were made by various companies, Charles Nelson from Nelson Paints first approached Crosman Company to make the marker gun but after few years of poor sale and not so good result the project was then given Daisy, another gun manufactures, they were asked to make a pistol marker. The guns keep evolving till the company gets their desired oil based paintballs Nel-Spot 007.
The history shows that the guns or the markers as they are called because they were used to mark the targets and cattles for woodcutters and shepherd, and the paint balls which were created for the business purpose of the countryside men turned into the most needed equipment for the favorite past time game for many.
After the discussion and decision between those who were interested in this method took place and the first game happened it spread the charm of the excitement it brought and hence, paintball was achieved.
