ProShield ("we," "our," or "us") operates the mobile application ProShield: Spam Call Blocker (the "App"), under the package name com.proshield.spam.call.blocker. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal data is handled securely and transparently.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By downloading and using ProShield, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
To provide our core features—such as identifying spam calls, blocking unwanted SMS, managing text messages, showing Live Caller ID—and to manage your user account, the App requests specific data and device permissions.
A. Account Registration and Profile Information (Optional)
We offer flexibility in how you use our App. Providing your personal information is entirely voluntary, and you can access the App's core functionalities without sharing your identity.
Google Sign-In: If you choose to log in using your Google Account, we automatically collect basic profile information linked to your Google mail, including your Name, Email Address, and Profile Picture. This data is used solely to create, identify, and personalize your account profile within the App.
Guest Login: You can choose to use the App as a Guest. If you select this option, we do not collect your name, email, or profile picture.
Phone Number: You may optionally provide your phone number to complete your profile or enhance caller verification features.
User Control: All profile information (Name, Email, Profile Picture, and Phone Number) is optional. You can choose not to provide them and continue using the App under a Guest account.
B. Permissions We Request and Why
Call History and Call Processing (READ_CALL_LOG, WRITE_CALL_LOG, PROCESS_OUTGOING_CALLS): These permissions are foundational to the App's core functionality as a call blocker and manager. We require access to your device's call logs to populate and display a comprehensive call history directly within our clean, integrated interface, allowing you to manage all call records in one place. This read access enables the App to retroactively scan and analyze recent unknown numbers in your history against our daily-updated spam database to flag and identify robocalls or telemarketers you might have missed. Furthermore, write access is strictly used to modify and clean up your call logs, such as removing or segregating entries from blocked spam numbers to keep your history clutter-free. Together with outgoing call processing, this group allows the App to instantly cross-reference real-time call numbers, ensuring protection against both incoming fraud and accidental outbound dialing to known scam or premium-rate numbers.
Contacts and Account Management (READ_CONTACTS, WRITE_CONTACTS, GET_ACCOUNTS): These permissions allow the App to interact with your device address book and registered account services to ensure a seamless caller identification, contact management, and secure account synchronization experience.
Read Access (READ_CONTACTS): Required to cross-reference incoming numbers with your existing contacts, ensuring that calls or messages from friends, family, and trusted entities are never accidentally blocked or flagged as spam. It also enables the App to display contact names within your integrated call history and Live Caller ID screens.
Write Access (WRITE_CONTACTS): Enables you to manage your address book directly from the App's user interface. When ProShield successfully identifies an unknown caller, you can seamlessly save that newly verified contact or update existing details directly to your device's native address book.
Account Detection (GET_ACCOUNTS): Utilized to detect verified account providers (such as your Google account) active on your device. This is strictly used to streamline your login registration profile and to ensure that when you save or update a contact through the App, it is correctly synchronized and backed up to your preferred cloud account storage (e.g., Google Contacts) rather than being limited to temporary local storage.
SMS Management and Sender-Based Filtering (SEND_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS, READ_SMS, RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH, RECEIVE_MMS): These permissions are strictly required if you choose to set ProShield as your Default SMS Application to manage your daily text communications and block spam. To serve as an integrated messenger and filter unwanted texts, the App utilizes these permissions for the following purposes:
Full Messaging Capabilities (SEND_SMS, READ_SMS, RECEIVE_MMS): This access allows the App to read, synchronize, and display your message history within our interface so you can natively compose, send, receive, and organize your text conversations as your system's default messenger.
Sender-Identity Filtering (RECEIVE_SMS, RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH): Upon the arrival of any incoming text, the App inspects only the sender's phone number, shortcode, or identifier against our blocklists. ProShield strictly does not read, scan, or process the textual content, body, or text data of your messages. Interception is based entirely on the originating number to filter out spam and promotional clutter before it disrupts you.
Absolute Privacy Safeguard: Because the App operates purely on a sender-identity basis, your communication privacy is completely guaranteed. ProShield never reads, harvests, or stores the body of your personal text messages, multimedia attachments, or sensitive one-time passwords (OTPs), ensuring your data remains private and securely contained on your device.
Phone State and Calling Capabilities (READ_PHONE_STATE, ANSWER_PHONE_CALLS, CALL_PHONE): These permissions enable the App to monitor telephony interactions and facilitate core calling operations. READ_PHONE_STATE and ANSWER_PHONE_CALLS are required to detect incoming phone calls in real-time, allowing our background engine to instantly screen and programmatically intercept, decline, or block verified spam and fraud calls before your device rings. The CALL_PHONE permission is strictly utilized to empower you to initiate outbound phone calls directly from the App’s custom user interface—such as instantly dialling a contact or returning a call to a safe number from your integrated call history—ensuring a seamless, friction-free communication experience without needing to switch back to your device's native dialer.
C. Technical and Usage Data (Installation and Use)
When You install and use the Services, ProShield will automatically collect certain technical and analytics information from your device to maintain app stability, diagnose performance issues, and optimize our anti-spam filtering algorithms. This information may include:
Device Metrics: Your IP address, device manufacturer, hardware model, operating system version, screen resolution, battery levels, device log/event information, and unique device identifiers (such as Android ID).
Network and Connectivity: Mobile network operator, SIM card country ISO, connection status, and basic telemetry data.
App Interaction: The version of the App You use, default communication application status (checking if ProShield is set as default), core feature usage statistics, and engagement duration.
Non-Personal Information: Aggregated usage metrics and system telemetry that cannot be used to identify You, whether in combination with other information or otherwise, do not constitute personal information for the purposes of this Policy.
D. Data You Provide Explicitly
User Reports: If you manually report a number as spam, telemarketer, or fraud, this number is added to our database to help protect other users.
Local Processing First: Wherever possible, data such as your contacts and call history is processed locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
Spam Queries: To provide the "Live Caller ID" and "Advanced Scam Protection" features, unknown incoming phone numbers may be queried against our global database. This process is fully encrypted and anonymized. We do not link your identity to the numbers being queried.
No Sale of Data: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal profile information, contacts, call logs, or SMS content to third parties for marketing purposes.
To support and maintain the App, we integrate third-party services for analytics, bug tracking, and advertising. These third parties may collect and process information about your device and your interaction with the App.
Analytics and Crash Reporting: We use third-party services, such as Google Analytics for Firebase and Crashlytics, to collect usage statistics, diagnose technical issues, and improve app stability. These services gather technical telemetry, such as device models, operating system versions, and crash logs, to help us optimize system performance.
Advertising Providers: To keep the App free to use, we partner with third-party advertising networks, such as Google AdMob. These ad networks may collect and use generic device information, IP addresses, and Advertising Identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID) to provide targeted and relevant advertisements. We explicitly guarantee that these advertising providers do not have access to your personal contacts, call logs, SMS text messages, or personal profile data.
Third-Party Privacy Policies: These third-party providers operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies to understand their data practices:

For example, on Android devices, you can typically go to Settings, tap on Google, select Ads, and then choose either Opt out of Ads Personalization or Delete advertising ID.
The security of your data is highly important to us. We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures (such as HTTPS/TLS encryption) to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.
