Instructions

PropertyMon GO! is an augmented reality learning experience with elements of gamification like those found in Niantic’s Pokémon Go.

Using Aurasma, the World’s leading augmented reality platform, you can hunt PropertyMon GO! ‘auras’. Each aura is located at a specific point in or around the NTU City campus and Nottingham city centre. You hunt the auras using the Aurasma app which is free to download on both iOS and Android. The app can be used on either mobile or tablet but you will need a mobile 3G or 4G connection if you use a tablet.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, open it up on your device, search for NLSLand and follow NLSLand’s Public Auras. Alternatively, search for #propertymon and you will see the auras on screen.

All you have to do is simply find the location of the auras shown in NLSLand’s Public Auras. Some of the auras are buildings, some are signs, others are property features such as a manhole cover. When you find the location of an aura, open up the app and simply point your mobile or tablet at the building, sign, feature, whatever that aura happens to be. Try and frame the view through your mobile or tablet exactly the same as it appears in NLSLand’s Public Auras, this helps the app identify the relevant aura. The app works in either portrait or landscape view but you may have to move your mobile or tablet around slightly until you get the precise view to trigger the aura.

Once the aura is triggered, a short video will appear on your screen explaining a relevant area of land law associated with the aura. You can ‘like’ the aura by tapping the heart icon in the bottom left of your screen and you can take a photo of the aura (and the overlaid video) by tapping the camera icon which is next to it. Use these photos as evidence that you have collected the auras.

There are currently 18 auras to collect. Once you have collected them all, visit the 'How to Claim Your Badge' page on the PropertyMon GO! website at in order to claim your badge.

There are 3 different badges available: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Gold badges are only available in the first week of release and are awarded if you collect all 18 auras without the aid of a PropertyMon GO! map.

Silver badges are only available in the second week of release and are awarded if you collect all 18 auras with the aid of a map (which will appear on the PropertyMon GO! website after the first week of release) but without details of the precise locations of the auras.

Bronze badges will be available after the second week of release and are awarded if you collect all 18 auras with the aid of a map and details of the precise locations of the auras (which will appear on the PropertyMon GO! website).

Who will be the first to collect a Gold badge? Will it be you?

PropertyMon GO! Gotta catch ‘em all!!
