What ProofSearch does
ProofSearch works on supported search engines including Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. It reads visible search result information such as result titles, snippets, domains, and links so it can calculate trust scores, explain why results may be useful or risky, show ranked sources, and provide Scam Aware signals.
Data ProofSearch stores locally
ProofSearch may store the following information in the browser using Chrome storage:
- User settings and preferences
- Selected scoring mode
- Trusted and blocked domains
- Local search/result history if enabled
- Page memory and site memory used by the extension
- Licence email
- Licence state, trial state, subscription state, grace state, and installation ID
This local data is used to keep ProofSearch working across browser sessions and to remember the user’s chosen setup.
Licence and subscription checks
ProofSearch may contact the ProofSearch licence API to check trial, subscription, grace, or locked access state.
The licence API may receive:
- Licence email entered by the user
- Extension installation ID
- Extension version
- Licence/subscription status request information
ProofSearch does not collect payment card details. Payment processing is handled by Stripe.
Website content
ProofSearch reads visible content from supported search result pages, such as search result titles, snippets, domains, and links, in order to score and explain results. This analysis is used for the extension’s single purpose: helping users assess search result trust before clicking.
Data sharing
ProofSearch does not sell user data.
ProofSearch does not use user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
ProofSearch does not transfer user data to third parties except where necessary for the extension’s stated purpose, such as licence/subscription access checks.
Remote code
ProofSearch does not load or execute remote JavaScript or remote WebAssembly code.
User control
Users can change settings, clear saved email, and manage local extension data through the extension interface or Chrome extension settings.
Limitations
ProofSearch is not antivirus software, legal advice, financial advice, medical advice, or an official scam-reporting service. It is an additional search-awareness layer designed to help users make more informed clicking decisions.
