PRONTO User Help
By Fabiola Torres - just an average PRONTO enthusiast offering help .
Disclaimer: I was selected by the OEI to pilot Pronto. I've been using it for about 3 years outside of Canvas.
It's a great communication tool that keeps your students and your courses connected. Students love it.
Pronto is a communication hub that communicated through Canvas enrollment. It connects people via chat and video, so they can learn faster, work smarter, and communicate seamlessly. If you can text, you can Pronto. Plus, students like it.
From your mobile device, go to https://pronto.io/
Log in using your institution's email account and retrieve your unique authentication code every time you log in to the website. This secures all communication within the institution's firewall. For mobile devices, authentication only happens once (Unless you sign-out). Silver-lining: If Canvas crashes, you still have access to your students via Pronto.
Push notifications work great through the mobile app. It's like having a direct number to all your students. And they too have direct access to you. Keep the connection.
What Are Faculty Saying?
"Why would I want to switch to Pronto? Why didn’t I do it sooner? It has simplified communication with my students. It is no longer a process. It is just one click!" - Hazel Ramos, Instructor of History
“Pronto is a very efficient, user-friendly tool that has helped me respond quickly to student questions, organize online group work and conduct online office hours. It’s easily the most helpful app I’ve used in my classroom.”- Gabe Gomez, Instructor of English

What Can Pronto Do:
Real-time Chat
Ditch email, radios, and paper and connect with coworkers or anyone else across your business through real-time text messaging.
Live-stream & Group Video Chat
Broadcast live-stream video to up to 400 people, and record your video sessions for replay. Perfect to live-stream your lecture. Pronto live-stream is like Facebook Live. They can see and hear you. They only interact using the chat button. It keeps the process smooth. Here is a video on how I live-stream. CLICK HERE
Special note: When you livestream your lecture, make sure to pause your lecturing regularly to ask if students have questions. If no one has questions, then move onto the next topic.
Chat via live video with up to 10 people simultaneously or. Perfect for group communication.
1:1 any time if you’re craving face-to-face interaction with a student. Or live-stream with a student and they can chat instead of being on video... you know... for the shy ones.
Announcements
Keep your entire course in the loop by sending a message to the whole class. It's like sending a real-time announcement to your entire class. Keep everyone updated on assignments, tech glitches, safety-information, emergency alerts, and any other important information you need to disseminate instantly. CLICK HERE
File Sharing & Storage
Share any file type—documents, spreadsheets, slideshows, photos, videos, and more. All files stored in Pronto stay in Pronto for easy retrieval with no storage limits. Pronto integrates with all reputable cloud storage repositories, including Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud, and Google Drive. I discovered iOS CLIPS (only on iPhone. Sorry) is easily sharable. Here is a silly video explaining the value of a discussion forum. Here's a video of me demonstrating how I use iOS CLIPS and seamlessly share to courses. CLICK HERE
Task Management
Keeps students organized and accountable by assigning tasks. Tasks allows you to create reminders for yourself or others in groups—attach files, photos, or videos and assign due dates with auto-reminders for each task. Here is a video from my fellow Pronto enthusiast, Mr. Gomez demonstrating how to assign a task. CLICK HERE
Accessibility
Pronto is committed to maintaining best-in-class accessibility standards. Pronto is equipped with screen readers, dynamic text, and more. Additionally, Pronto runs on over 10,000 unique mobile device types and is both WCAG 2.0 AA and FERPA compliant.
Message Translation
Level the playing field. Pronto gives everyone a voice by allowing them to confidently send messages in their native language while Pronto automatically translates those messages into the recipient’s native or preferred language.
Privacy
Protect yourself. Pronto keeps you connected to everyone in our campus without sharing your email. Staying connected is important, and so is your privacy.

It is very intuitive. Students will download the app and start interacting with you.
