During the summer, I participated in the Youth Ambassadors Program, a six week foreign exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by World Learning that focused on civil duties and social justice not only in America but in other countries such as Columbia,Uruguay, Paraguay, and Ecuador. I met so many wonderful mentors and youth leaders from every corner of the world and the United States. In addition, through the program I learned about fundamental tools to help my community through innovative ideas and ambition. This is where “4theppl” was born. “4theppl”’s purpose is to help low-income families and the homeless population have access to every one of life’s necessities. As mentioned by Dr. Michael A. Horne from Parkland Hospital, "irrespective of backgrounds, people want to live a life where they can thrive". I would not only love to be the change within my community but also inspire fellow students within Dallas to pursue their own passions. I can confidently say that through my experiences I have grown into a confident individual that is ready to help the world one step at a time. Furthermore, in the process of trying to get additional support I reached out to multiple organizations within the Dallas Metroplex to collaborate on developing fundraisers that would be COVID friendly and safe. Promise House is an amazing organization that has opened their doors to me, a young leader to make a change.
I implemented my CBI through school by setting up a donation drive for the holiday season along with giving out additional resources as to how students could get involved volunteering with Promise House and other non-profits.
