Today our mission is to rewrite the list of the cheesiest, most ridiculous prom songs ever. Some of them will be wonderful. Others, just plain terrible. But none of them will be Chris DeBurgh's "Lady In Red." Why in the world are they still playing that slop at prom? It's the romantic equivalent of "The Hokey Pokey." And while we're at it, are you familiar with the mind-boggling lyrics of Eric Clapton's unkillable prom wrecker, "Wonderful Tonight"? Read them and weep:

One of the first questions I ask when judging a prom song is, "Does this amazing love ballad inspire me to ball both of my hands into fists, hold them out in front of my face and sing along with my eyes closed really tight?" Savage Garden is a major "YES." This means that it packs the emotional wallop of a Creed video without bumming you out by being a Creed video.

As a prom ballad, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" is interchangeable with any Disney love theme of the past 20 years ("Did you ever hear the wolf cry at the blue corn moon?," anyone?). This one's only downfall is that it's not sung by Peabo Bryson, who, if cheesy love songs had their own country, would be a shoo-in for President. Its greatest asset: inclusion of the word "vagabond," which, let's face it, is one of the world's most romantic words.

Being in high school in the '90s, there was a lot of good music. But at our actual prom at Kennedy in 1996, the theme song was "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton, a song dating back 20 years before we were in school.

Mashsable did a list of the best prom songs for each year starting with 1990, and the list included some great ones. "This is How we Do it" by Montell Jordan and "I Swear" by All- 4-One "rocked the average prom", as the list is categorized, for their respective years in 1994 and '95.

I am not a big fan of their choice for my graduation year, though. The prom song of the year in 1996 was "The Crossroads" by rap group Bone, Thugs 'N Harmony. I'll stick with the Eric Clapton, or the Bon Jovi or Bryan Adams that were rockin' my prom--and my radio, back in high school (and still are)!

2021 is not a good year from proms. The only year it beats out is 2020, an even more pandemic year than this one. But a fair chunk of our readership is past prom age, so we asked them to share their musical memories with us. Not the happy memories, of course. Just the songs that now make them cringe and blush.

Musician Jason Pitts waltzed into classmate Lianna Cohen's third-period classroom with a guitar and an accompanying choir, asked the class for their attention, and burst into singing "Prom Song (Lianna, You're So Beautiful)." After collapsing to the floor, Cohen embraced Pitts and accepted his proposal as her classmates applauded. Is there any way this could have gone wrong?

Hi, just wondering whether the music playing in the video is based off a real song, if so which song is it? The in-game music is heard when playing prom night music, I'm guessing it's a part of the high school years expansion pack. I've searched the sims wiki for the list of music released with that pack, but none of them match. Help is appreciated, thanks!

Yep I've already gone through the music settings with the list of songs in-game. Sadly none of the songs added in the High School Years EP match with the one I'm trying to find. And oddly enough, there's no prom night radio station in the settings either, even though this song comes on when you play prom night music using one of the radios added in the High School Years EP.

Bellamy had a demo of the song which included him playing the guitar and it was suggested by drummer Dominic Howard to perform some of the riffs with brass instruments.[7] After viewing a video of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band perform a Muse tribute halftime show, the band recorded an alternative version that prominently features the school marching band.[7][8] This version was included in the deluxe versions of the album.

Prom in 2017 hardly resembles prom in 1997-- the promposals alone have reached impossible heights. There are, however, common threads tying the youth of today to the youth of yesteryear, namely the prom song.

You know the one-- the single du jour that united your senior class on the dance floor for two to four blissful minutes. Because prom is grossly overrated, the rest of your night was likely average at best. But hopefully, thanks to one of the songs we've pulled for this list, you have one solid music memory to fondly reflect on.

Now, look: I wasn't at your prom and I have no idea what the vibe at your high school was, so forgive me if the song for your year isn't exactly your song. We'd say they're safe bets, however, because they're the top songs from the week of May 15 for each of the last 26 years. 17dc91bb1f
