One objective of our research is to understand how buildings can be used to store energy over time. As suggested in the context description, comparing buildings and batteries is useful in order to understand in simple terms what the building can offer. In this optic, we have used the LADR platform and computed its "equivalent battery". Experiments have been carried out to validate this comparison and are reported in the figure below. It was found that the LADR platform was equivalent to a 2kW, 10kWh battery.
Fig 1. To validate the comparison of the building and the battery, an experiment was performed where it is required to alternatively charge and discharge the building within the computed maximum state of charge. It can be observed how this translates to heating and cooling the building over time.
