We record electrical signals generated in the brain using electroencephalography (EEG). EEG is a safe and non-invasive way to capture brain signals. It is clinically approved and is used by researchers worldwide.
To record EEG, we put a cap on your scalp and then place electrodes in the cap after applying a small amount of conductive gel. The gel does not affect your hair, and you can wash it off very easily after the experiment. We also use other sensors to monitor your respiration, heart rate, and skin conductance, which will help us know the body’s physiological changes during meditation. All these sensors are safe to attach to the body, and there is no risk of electric shock.
Once you come to our lab, we will ask you to sit comfortably on a chair in front of a monitor. The study will be conducted in a dark room. You have to look at a dot displayed at the center of the screen. You need to meditate or simply keep your eyes open or closed, depending on the instructions.
The entire study would take around 3 hrs.
You are free to take breaks in between the tasks.
We would give snacks along with tea or coffee.
At the end of the study, we would provide shampoo and a clean towel for washing your hair. We have a dedicated washroom only for the participants.
You would be compensated monetarily for your participation.
Also, any travel expenses would be reimbursed.
We are looking forward to your participation! Click here to register.
