Chapter Founder
Emma Shu is a senior at Sunset High School. She enjoys exploring the branches of computer science through various classes, workshops, and competitions.
Emma has worked as a Linux Development Intern at IBM and has contributed to both open source code in the Avocado testing framework and written her own CPU pinning scripts.
In exploring the field of cybersecurity, Emma has participated in the CyberPatriot competition with her team entirely comprised of females. Together, they were awarded 1st in Open Gold Division and 2nd in the state of Oregon the past two years. Along with the CyberPatriot competition, Emma also participated in the Girls Go Cyberstart capture the flag competition last year. She and her team were awarded 1st in Oregon, qualifying for the national competition.
For her active participation in technology and Emma has been awarded Oregon & SW Washington winner in the National Center for Women & Information Technology Awards in Computing in both 2020 and 2021. She has also been on the Tech4Girls board the past 4 years, working as the co-president to collaborate with local middle schools to promote interest in STEM for middle school girls.
