Carls Jr is known for its banned commercials, and they inappropriate not all but most. So another commercial was banned in 2015 and this one involved Kate Upton. She was promoting Carl Jr's new All Natural burger. She is the narrator of the video so she is talking in a seductive way. Kate Upton Starts off walking through a pop up shop where men are gardening, selling fruits, and staring at her walk. All the men in the video either stops what they are doing or is distracted by her walking around half naked.
Carls Jr uses sex as a way to get the attention of men and some women. Kilbourne's article, "'Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt': Advertising and Violence," she writes, “Sex in advertising is pornagraphic, because...it fetishizes products, imbues them with an erotic charge - which dooms us to disappointment since products can never fulfill our sexual desires or meet our emotional needs.” Out all the of the ads people may see throughout the day, most of them are objectifying women.
Carl Jr uses a beautiful woman to get more men viewers Kate Upton to sell their sell their burgers while she basically is selling her body. She has the typical features that Kilbourne talks about in her article. She has the long hair, skinny toned body, and young. She said "All women are vulnerable in a culture in which there is such a wide-spread objectification of women bodies". I took this as if she was saying tv portrays women a certain a way, and they are trying to say that's the only way you could be sexy.
Businesses have been using ads and commercials to exploit women for the longest. Businesses have profiting of women and although it seems harmless, its not. Ads created a stereotype that is used every where. They made seem it like its only one way to sell items was to use women and make every women typically sexy by using the type of women over and over again and calling them sexy or beautiful .The media needs to find a better to sell and/ or promote their items.
