SUPPORT OUR EFFORT!
It is crucial for veterans and their supporters to write their representatives in support of H.R. 7543 / S. 3873, the Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2024, because this bill addresses a long-standing inequity in how National Guard and Reserve members earn Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. These service members have repeatedly stepped up during national emergencies, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, often performing the same duties as their active-duty counterparts. However, under current law, many of their service days do not count toward education benefits, creating an unfair divide. By passing this legislation, Congress would ensure that every day spent in uniform receiving military pay counts toward GI Bill eligibility, recognizing the full value of the contributions made by Guard and Reserve members. Veterans and supporters must raise their voices to push for this essential change and ensure all who serve have equal access to the benefits they've earned.

As your constituent, I'd like to raise awareness about my support of H.R. 7543 / S. 3873, the Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2024. This bipartisan bill addresses a long-standing inequity in how National Guard and Reserve members earn Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. These service members have repeatedly stepped up during national emergencies, including during the COVID-19 pandemic and national disaster emergency relief, often performing the same duties as their active-duty counterparts. However, under current law, many of their service days do not count toward education benefits, creating an unfair divide. I encourage you to learn more about how this bill could change the lives of servicemembers by meeting with members of The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Student Veterans of America. You can also visit Project Parity to hear stories directly from National Guard and Reserve servicemembers who have been affected by this long-standing disparity.
