Packet Capture Assignment

• Capture all the packets, open google.com or facebook and capture from the time you press enter till the time you browse the page. Identify TCP, IP and Ethernet field in your captures.

• Capture ARP packet & RARP packet from router

• Capture OSPF Packet from your router.

• Send bigger packet using ping and capture the packet on your router.

• Explain your observation in terms of packet capture in 2 mins audio presentation. The video just needs to show slides and background voice from presenter. No video of presenter.

• Post it on Project NED youtube channel

Mindmap Project

Create a mind map for OSI model using Ethernet/TCP/IP as an example. Upload your mind map on "Documents & Resources". Hint: Search google for Mind Map tools and you can pick any tool for your mind map (Freemind, Xmind).

Network Performance Assignment

• Setup a Webserver which should be accessible from anywhere in the internet. Use another computer to download the file from webserver.

• Change MTU to 1000 on the server and observe the download speed. Change the MTU to 1500 and observe the download speed.

• Change TCP window size and observe the download speed. What things impact performance. Use the document Network Performance for this project.

• Demonstrate this experiment in 5 mins audio presentation and post it on Project NED youtube channel.
