Plan to End Homelessness:
Homelessness embodies a deep and relatively broad encompassing set of circumstances.
One of such circumstances rough sleeping.
Rough sleeping is referred to as a targeted, monitored statistic that tracks the number of people sleeping outside of rental or owned accommodations. ( I need to double check whether homeless shelters are included in their figures. This is at least a part of the conservative government.
The Conservative government aims to reduce rough sleeping, with a focus on sustainably lifting people out of poverty.
Rent to Buy:
Rent to buy would be based on the ability to provide a sustained rental payment. One of the issues of sustained rough sleeping, is that provided that those whom do withstand the harsh environmental conditions, are likely subject to a lack of credit availability. This can be one of the targeted measures that is addressed through the rent to buy scheme.
Government housing is not a new concept. The United Kingdom sold government supplied houses to residents under the Margaret Thatcher. This was a part of a privatization cycle, and reinvigorating Britain for the future. It was a major success and thus is cited by some present labour supporters as the reason they own a home at all.
One of the main differentiating factors that sets the Conservative Party apart is its close collaboration with Labour in the UK, and the Liberals (equivalent of UK Labour Party) in Canada. By putting forward initiatives that are both planned and implemented by the two major political governing parties, affordable housing is always a great investment in our shared future.
Private partnerships and government partnerships in large property development in our major cities, provides opportunity for collaboration with the private sector to produce job wealthy environments that reduce poverty and foster a sense of community.
Rough sleeping:
Partnering with hospital services, addressing both short term and long term residences is a priority of any future conservative government.
Rough sleeping can be reduced substantially, however, it is vital to recognize that the cleanliness of the environment is important to address. It would be better to treat this as an acute, health care initiative in the short term residences, with cleaning services, and health services addressed by medical professionals.
This ensures government short term facilities are provided with a focus on enabling individuals to function at their maximum capacity.
Moving to the long term residences, although short term occupancy is often likely to be the first step, long term residences should be provided with the rent to buy initiative. This means building residential class accommodations that may be purchased by others the same as any other private housing sales and purchases.
Existing health services may determine at best, when and how to most accurately identify when persons experiencing rough sleeping would be healthy enough to stay in these accommodations. This means putting people back into the labour force. This means creating new jobs in construction and infrastructure development. Building an economy that focuses on putting people back to work and back to good health is what makes this conservative government, the best option.
Long term residences in urban downtown settings such as the ice district downtown, with shops and local entertainment provides opportunity for maximum employment. I believe strongly that by putting our best efforts behind Albertans, we will always be leaders in creating universal betterment.
The program would be a slow phase in project. To make it clear this is not a small task. When governments for 100 and more years have not been able to erraticate homelessness altogether. It is important to note that small steps in the right direction are incremental. The overall project would be done in phases, and require the continuity of governance that is only seen in Alberta.
Albertans lead. Albertans have a bright future. This is because of the strong Stewartship of our successive governments, and our 40 years of progressive conservative governments.
