I'm a Girl Scout, an artist, and an ocean lover. I've always enjoyed the beach and cared deeply about wildlife and the environment. This website is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award. My goal is to use my talents as an artist to spread awareness for ocean conservation.

The purpose of Project Aquarius is to teach people what they can do to improve ocean health in their everyday lives. If each person takes steps to decrease their environmental footprint, the ocean can become more sustainable for future generations to enjoy.

Here's what you can do.

• 70% of the Earth's surface is covered in water
• The ocean has a major influence on Earth's weather and climate
• The Earth would be uninhabitable without the ocean
• 1 out of 6 jobs in the U.S. is marine-related
• 60% of coral reefs are at medium to high risk
• 50% of the world's population lives in 50 miles of the coast
• The populations of many species are declining at an unsustainable rate
• 52 billion gallons of pollution enters the ocean every day
• The ocean is becoming more acidic than it has been in the last 800,000 years

Take a look at the facts above. The ocean is important to every living thing on Earth, and the health of the ocean is declining drastically. It's our responsibility as humans to be good stewards of the Earth, and to preserve its beauty for the future.
