The first meeting of the QRA PLWG will be held at Leeds University on Friday, 13th November, 2026. Details as follows:
Date: Friday 13th November, 2026
Venue: School of Geography, University of Leeds
Time: 10:00 - 16:30 GMT
Cost: Free registration and lunch will be provided. You must arrange and pay for your own transport and accommodation.
Registration deadline: Friday 2nd October, 2026
The first workshop will comprise:
Morning: Welcome and introduction
Morning: All attendees (in person and online) to introduce themselves, any research group they might represent, and their research focus. One slide, one minute per person only!
Afternoon: Small group breakouts to discuss, categorise and identify the top most pressing research questions concerning proglacial lakes
Afternoon: Consider ways in which we can promote communication, discussion and, ultimately, further research on all aspects of proglacial lakes.
Deliverable/outcome: The plan is for the discussions to form the basis for a review paper, target submission to the Journal of Quaternary Science (the society journal of the QRA).
We intend the workshop to be hybrid so as to permit online attendance. Given the activities, interaction by online attendees will be easier in the morning than in the afternoon. We will do our best, but please be mindful of this.
To attend in-person or online, please complete the Expression of Interest and Leeds Registration form.
