I believe in the American system of free enterprise, that individuals and families can make an impact on the economy and not only better their own lives, but better the lives of everyone around them through hard work, self-reliance, perseverance, and ingenuity. Indeed, free market capitalism is the greatest driving force of human progress ever, having lifted over 80% of the world's population out of starvation in poverty. At the same time, I recognize that our economic system is not as free as it could be. We need to loosen up on regulations and cut through the miles of red tape instituted by elitist plutocrats in Washington D.C. that smother free enterprise and innovation in our great nation.
Taxation is intended to finance the spending of our government. Ideally, taxation and spending should be low. Unfortunately, our nation operates under a budget that is constantly in danger of running a deficit due to poor tax brackets, reckless spending, and a lack of accountability. We are greatly fiscally irresponsible and our debt will eventually catch up with us. Not only do I support a Balanced Budget Amendment to the constitution in order to force our nation to be more fiscally responsible, I also support restructuring our tax system to hurt families, businesses, and investors less. I call it the 10-10-10 plan, 10% Income tax, 10% Corporate income tax, 10% Payroll tax, and a 10% Capital gains and Dividends tax. I also support the repeal of the alternative minimum tax.
The cost of basic healthcare in our country is far too high for individuals and families. The Democrats and Socialists may call for socialized healthcare provided by the government, but this isn't a real solution. Socialized healthcare is not only more expensive, it delivers lower quality care. I reject all attempts to increase our government's involvement in the healthcare industry. Have we forgotten how the prices got so in the first place? We can lower the cost of healthcare by enacting simple, market-based reforms. We can speed up the FDA approval process by loosening regulations and allowing private, 3rd-party certification companies to compete. We must also repeal the Affordable Care Act, which has had a disastrous impact.
The Second Amendment means what it says: "Shall not be infringed". As your congressman, I fought to protect and expand your Second Amendment rights. Whether it was drafting concealed and open carry bills on the state level, liberalizing knife laws on the state level, or fighting to pass the Omnibus Gun Rights Act of 2020, I was there every step of the way. With a Republican controlled House and Senate, we will finally be able to pass numerous pieces of gun rights legislation into law. We, every citizen of the United States of America, are the militia and our voices should not be ignored by Congress!
Abortion is an unnecessary evil. Over 60 million babies have been aborted in America since 1973 when Roe v. Wade was decided. Worldwide, an estimated 1.5 billion abortions have occurred since 1980. No matter how you slice it, this is democide, murder on a massive scale that cannot continue unopposed. We must work tirelessly to protect the lives of the unborn in America and abroad. Whether this means working to improve access to birth control to reduce accidental pregnancies, or outright banning abortion, we must take steps to end this brutal practice. All lives are sacred.
Our nation's government has far exceeded the limited bounds on its power given to it by the Constitution. It's time for us to restore constitutional governance and to embrace small government. Whether the government is infringing upon freedom of religion through forcing religious institutions to carry out acts contrary to their moral code, freedom of association through forcing private establishments to serve everyone, freedom of privacy through warrant-less surveillance, or federalism through wanton disregard for the Tenth Amendment, infringements on our rights are all around us. It's time to fight back.
One of the largest issues with our immigration system is the sheer inefficiency of it. Democrats have offered 0 solutions besides completely opening borders, which is a terrible proposal. What we need to do is drastically increase the amount of visas that allotted each year. We also need to lower the requirements for entry into our great nation. For immigrants coming from countries like India, there is a 100+ year backlog for skilled workers. These immigrants that are completely qualified, even possessing superior skills when compared to immigrants from other countries, but will never be able to see America in their lifetime because of red tape and bureaucracy. It is clear that drastic action must be taken to fix our broken entry system.
War is a terrible tragedy. It results in the mass murder of humans for political or territorial gain. It also leads to the concentration of power in the state. The founding fathers understood the dangerous nature of warfare when they restricted the power to declare war to Congress. They understood that Congress would generally make better decisions than the president alone. Unfortunately, the power to declare war has increasingly been shifted to the Executive branch. I'm thankful that Gunnz is a competent President who has kept us out of war, but we can't count on him staying in office. Congress needs to take back the power to declare war from the President, withdraw from our conflicts abroad, and needs to put an end to our rabid interventionist foreign policy.
Education is important. It provides for the rearing of a new generation of Americans. Unfortunately, however, our American education system is failing. Our grades are abysmal compared to those of other first world nations and we are falling behind on other measures of academic achievement. No amount of money thrown at the problem seems to fix it. Indeed, this is a problem that cannot be fixed by the government, but rather by encouraging individual action. Private schools and home education programs have better outcomes than public schools at just a fraction of the cost. As your congressman, I will continue to fight for the rights of home-schoolers and to encourage school choice.
