I teach full time at Skyline College in the San Mateo Community College District. The college is located just past the border of San Francisco County and San Mateo County in San Bruno, Ca. I have taught there full time since 2013.
I graduated from Diablo Valley College in 2007 with an A.A. in Liberal Arts and completed all requirements for G.E. Transfer and IGETC Transfer. I graduated from CSU East Bay in 2010 with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. I then worked as a Physical Science Research Assistant at SLAC for a year before completing my M.S. in Applied Mathematics in 2013. I started teaching at Skyline College immediately after graduating and have many years of prior tutoring experience.
My personal hobbies include math (I like to study advanced topics in my spare time), physics, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (since 2014, purple belt), camping, disc golf, bmx and learning new languages (Spanish and Kouri-Vini).
I started making YouTube videos as a way of teaching during Covid without having to subjugate my students to sit through lectures via zoom. I turned the video transcripts into course notes for my students. I then began to compile the notes into course readers. The next step is to publish and copyright under OER with the hopes of having zero textbook cost (ztc) for my courses. Perhaps I will publish a full textbook at one point but for now I enjoy having my own content available to my students. I plan on adding some open resource problem sets to the lecture note course readers as well as custom MyOpenMath homework sets (I have to learn to code MyOpenMath problems first).
