Paul J. Nini is an Emeritus Professor and a past Chairperson in the Department of Design at The Ohio State University, where he has also acted as Graduate Studies Chair, and Coordinator of the Visual Communication Design undergraduate program.
His professional service activities have included: member of AIGA's Design Educators Community steering committee; editorial board member for the ico-D journal Communication Design: Interdisciplinary and Graphic Design Research; and advisory board member for AIGA’s Dialectic journal.
Paul's writings have appeared in numerous publications (via AIGA, Allworth Press, Bloomsbury, de.Mo, Design Issues, Eye (UK), ico-D, Information Design Journal, Princeton Architectural Press), and he has presented at numerous national and international design and education conferences. His design work has been widely exhibited, and recognized in both print and online publications. He was recognized as a United Design Alliance medallion recipient in 2024. Paul has also been an active "maker of music" since the late 1970s, having released numerous recordings on various independent labels. He currently directs the Old 3C Label Group, an artist-run micro-label cooperative. More information on music activities is available via the last two links below.
