I am Rainer Thiele, Director of the Kiel Institute Africa Initiative and Deputy Director of the research center International Development at the Kiel Institute, and Adjunct Professor at Kiel University.
My research focuses on economic development in Africa, including topics such as the impact of large-scale land acquisitions on rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa and the allocation and effectiveness of foreign aid. I have published my work in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and contribute to evidence-based research that informs development policy and practice.
