Geometry Dash:
A very niche side of my life that I often don’t share to even my closest friends is my involvement in a popular video game known as Geometry Dash. Geometry Dash is a 2-D platforming game in which you traverse levels as a small square. The game seems like a simple concept at first, but early on in the game’s life, the developer of the game released a level editor, in which players could create their own levels. Upon the release of this new mechanic of the game, levels created could only go so far, but after several updates, the game’s level editor allows for players to create almost anything that they could think of.
My involvement in this community has led me to be a part of some astounding projects, and I’d like to highlight a couple of the big creations that I have had the privilege of being a part of:
-a quick warning that if you are bothered by flashing lights and colors, you should probably avoid watching these videos, as the nature of the game consists of lots of troubling imagery for those with sensitivity issues to lights and colors-
Collaborative Projects:
“Bloodlust:” This level was created with the intention of being the hardest level in the entire game, and upon its release, the level held that title for well over a year. The level as of today has over 20 million downloads and 730,000 likes. This level was created by a team of very talented creators, and I am grateful to have been a part of this creation. My section of the level is the very last section of the level:
“Zodiac:” Yet another level that was designed to be the hardest level in the game, after a couple of other published levels had dethroned “Bloodlust” as the current hardest level in the game. This level diverges from the standard hell-themed design of many top difficulty levels that had been classified by the community at large as overused and obsolete. This is yet another creation that was piloted by a lot of very talented creators. All of their names can be found in the description of this video:
Solo Projects:
“WhyMeWhyMeWhyMeWhyMe:” The magnum opus of my solo creating career. While not nearly as popular as the collaborative projects listed above, this level still has over 320,000 downloads and 24,000 likes, and was awarded with the “Best Story” award in the 2022 Geometry Dash awards. This level was designed entirely by me, down to every last detail, aside from the fonts seen in the level, which were designed by a creator known as LTGS, who has font packs available for free online. This level was meant to be an exploration of my own journey through a video game that became much more than a video game to me, and the struggle that creating through this medium had brought during the couple of years prior to its release:
“Soul Searching:” Another level of mine that is not nearly as self-aware or thought-provoking as my previous creation, but I believe that this level is still a display of some of my talents regarding animation and visual design:
“An Expression:” A level that is quite a bit older than my previous two solo projects, but one that is still on par with some of the other stuff that I have created, and is an additional display of my artistic skills when it comes to animation and visual design:
“Surge of Creations:” Just another creation I want to show off:
