Dr. Chandan Guria is an Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. He holds a PhD degree and an ME degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, respectively. Guria joined IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in 2009 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering.

Prior to academia, he has served as an Assistant Manager, Process Engineer and R&D Engineer at Reliance Industries Ltd., Hazira, India; Medicorp Technologied (India) Ltd., Secunderabad, India and Adarsh Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., Udhna, India, respectively.

His research interest lies mainly in the field of drilling and drilling fluid, reservoir fluid thermodynamics, flow through porous media, biomass and bioenergy, carbon dioxide sequestration, oxidation of fatty acids, membrane separation and multi-objective optimization of Petroleum and Chemical processes. He has authored more than 70 international journal papers and 10 conference papers. He has supervised PhD thesis of 11 students in the field of drilling fluid, microalgae cultivation-cum-CO2 sequestration, Bio diesel synthesis and membrane separation using oily produced water. Prof. Guria’s current research group consists of three PhD degree students and several master’s and bachelor’s degree students.
