Prof. Laura Vargas joined professors from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Concepción in the seminar “Reinforced Masonry: Past Lessons and Present Challenges” held at Universidad de Concepción, Chile. Prof. Laura shared with the attendees the recent experimental and numerical evidence on the seismic behavior of masonry walls with openings.

Culmination of full-scale testing of four façade-type masonry walls, conducted with the research team at the Structural Engineering Laboratory of PUC-Chile, within the FONDECYT project “Seismic Behavior and Design Criteria of Partially Grouted Reinforced Masonry Walls with Openings”.

Experimental testing of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with carbon fiber–reinforced polymer (CFRP), carried out as part of the Experimental Analysis course at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The tests evaluated the structural response of RC beams with different strengthening layouts. The Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique was employed to estimate the full-field strain distribution during loading.
