Your IDOE's math team has created a self-directed learning by doing book study. John SanGiovanni outlines six essential actions for nurturing productive struggle. This is not your average book study. Designed to be completed over the course of 12 weeks, you will be encouraged to explore each of the six essential actions through task implementation and personal reflection to “support access, equity, and empowerment, specifically arguing that every student is worthy of struggle”.

Before you begin your journey with productive struggle, take a moment to reflect on how you feel about struggle currently by completing the pre-self inventory. Then, at the end of the book, revisit the post self-inventory for you to get a sense of how your work with productive struggle has helped you grow professionally.
