Proceedings of Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of NAS of Ukraine adhere to the requirements of the Committee on Publication Ethics when formulate its editorial policies.
This journal is practicing a policy of immediate open access to published content, supporting the principles of the free flow of scientific information and global exchange of knowledge to the general social progress.
All manuscripts are subject for blind reviewing: the names of the reviewers are hidden from the author.
The scientific articles are allowed to be reviewed only if they are written in accordance with «the requirements for the articles» that shows up at the primary control of editorial board. If there are some remarks at the stage of primary control, the article may be returned to the authors with a note «the technical requirements have not been met».
Ukrainian and foreign doctors of sciences who have scientific works on the issues stated in the article are invited to external review. On behalf of the editorial office such scientist are sent a letter requesting a review, the article is attached to the letter. The external reviewer is chosen taking into account his main direction of research, his current program of work and with his consent.
All reviewers must follow ethical requirements in the scientific publications of the Committee on Publication Ethics and be objective and unprejudiced.
The review covers the following issues:
the correspondence of the content of the article to its title;
the conformity of the article with thematic directions of the journal;
the relevance of the research topic and the presence in the content of the article elements of novelty;
the expediency of publication of the article in view of the interest of a wide range of readers;
the clarity of the wording of the purpose of the article;
the correspondence of article to the scientific level of the journal;
the availability of substantiated conclusions and directions for further research;
the shortcomings (if they are present specify which corrections and additions should be made by the author)
In the case of a refusal or need to modify a reviewer must provide a written reasoned explanation of the reasons for that decision.
The final decision on the article is taken at a meeting of the editorial board held once every three months in the composition of the chief editor, deputy editor and executive secretary. Decisions are made taking into account the received reviews.
The further work with the article recommended for publication is held by the editorial staff in accordance with the technological process of preparation of the issue of the journal.
The editorial decision is directed to the author. The articles that should be edited are sent to the author together with the text of the reviews containing specific recommendations for the modifying of the article. The anonymity of the reviewers is guaranteed by the editorial staff of the journal.
Revised version of the article is directed to re-review. In case of repeated negative review the article is rejected and not subject to further consideration.
The editorial board does not hold discussions with the authors of the rejected articles.
Reviews and recommendations for each article are kept in the editorial office electronically within three years since the date of publication of the journal which contains the reviewed article.
Publishing an article in the Proceedings of Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of NAS of Ukraine the authors confirm, that:
the author has all rights on it and the consent of coauthors on а publication, giving right to the publisher of the journal for publicity of these materials in the printed and electronic version;
the authors agree to the politics of this professional edition concerning impossibility of a publication return in case of it recall and they refuse from claims against a publisher concerning the recall of the article.
there is no complete package of supporting documents;
the article does not meet the requirements of the publication;
the topic of the article does not fit the journal's profile;
title of the article does not correspond to the content;
the article is written at a low scientific level;
the material has been fully or partially published previously in other publications or submitted to other editions;
the article is completely or partially alien (the author plagiarized);
the material is promotional in nature;
the problem raised in the article has lost its relevance.
The publication ethics of the journal supports the principles of ethics of the editor and the publisher, the reviewer, author of the scientific publication, which were developed by the Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE) and can be found in “Codes of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors”.
When deciding on publication, the editorial board is guided by the reliability of the data submitted and the scientific significance of the work under consideration.
The intellectual content of manuscripts is evaluated regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, origin, nationality, social status or political views of the authors.
Unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts are not used for personal purposes and are not communicated to third parties without the written consent of the author. Information from the submitted manuscripts remains confidential and is not used for personal gain.
The editorial does not publish a manuscript if there is reason to believe that it is a plagiarized one.
The editorial board does not leave unanswered claims related to reviewed manuscripts or published materials, and when a conflict occurs, it takes all necessary measures to restore the infringed rights.
A manuscript received for review is treated as a confidential document that can not be communicated to a third party who is not authorized by the editorial board for review or discussion.
The reviewer gives an objective and reasoned assessment of the results of the study. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable.
Unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts is not used by a reviewer for personal purposes.
A reviewer who is not, in his opinion, qualified to assess the manuscript, or can not be objective, for example in the case of a conflict of interest with the author or organization must inform the editorial and ask it to be excluded from the review process of this manuscript.
The author(s) of the article must provide reliable results of the research. Consistent submission of false or fraudulent data is unacceptable.
The author must ensure that the results of the study, set forth in the manuscript submitted, are completely original. The borrowed data must be given with the obligatory indication of the author and the original source. Excessive borrowings, as well as plagiarism in any form, including nonformalized citations, rephrasing or appropriation of rights to the results of the research of others, are unethical and unacceptable.
The contribution of all persons who have influenced the study process in one way or another should be acknowledged, in particular, reference should be made to the works that were relevant to the research.
The authors should not submit for publishing a manuscript that has previously been submitted to another edition and is currently under consideration, as well as an article already published in another edition.
The co-authors of the article should include all persons who have made a significant contribution to the research. Among co-authors it is unacceptable to indicate persons who did not participate in the study.
If the author finds significant errors or inaccuracies in the article at the stage of its consideration or after its publication, he should as soon as possible inform the editorial staff.
Reviewers should not be involved in the review work, if there is a conflict of interests. If there are any conflicts of interests (financial, academic, personal, etc.) reviewers should inform the editorial board about that. Reviewers, editors and members of the editorial board of the journal should take into account any conflicts of interests while performing their functions during the review and publication of the article and in a timely manner inform the editor about all relationships, which may be considered as a potential conflict of interests.
The editorial staff in their own development without the written consent of the author cannot use unpublished materials available in the submitted work.
Proceedings of Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of NAS of Ukraine are committed to publishing only original material, i.e., material that has neither been published elsewhere, nor is under review elsewhere.
Manuscripts with the revealed plagiarism or text borrowing without reference to the original source are rejected by the editorial board without publication in the journal.
Editorial stuff will judge any case of plagiarism on its own merits. If plagiarism is detected, either by the editors, peer reviewers or editorial staff at any stage before publication of a manuscript - before or after acceptance, during editing or at page proof stage, we will alert the author(s), asking her or him to either rewrite the text or quote the text exactly and to cite the original source.
If plagiarism is detected after publication, the Journal will conduct an investigation. If plagiarism is found, the journal editorial office will contact the author. The paper containing the plagiarism will be marked on each page of the PDF. Depending on the extent of the plagiarism, the paper may also be formally retracted.
