My name is Nelson MacAulay and I am a dedicated and experienced Goalie Coach with a strong educational background, holding Bachelor of Education. My passion for coaching and my commitment to nurturing talent have been pivotal in shaping my journey in the world of hockey over the last decade.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with goaltenders of all skill levels, from aspiring beginners to elite-level athletes. My coaching philosophy centres on fostering growth, both on and off the ice, while instilling a love for the game. I firmly believe that goaltending is not just a position but a journey of continuous improvement.

Goalie Coach | UPEI Women Panthers, AUS

2021-PRESENT

In my role as the Goalie Coach for the Varsity Women's team at the University of PEI, I focus on providing technical and tactical skill development for elite-level goaltenders. I thrive on collaborating closely with the coaching staff, actively participating in player evaluations, and contributing to recruitment efforts. Utilizing advanced video software such as InStat Analytics is a vital aspect of our player development and strategic scouting.

Goalie Coach | The Mount Academy (CSSHL/ ECEL/ JWHL)

2018-2023- 2024/2025

My coaching journey extended to The Mount Academy, a prep school participating in prominent hockey leagues. During this period, I continued my dedication to coaching elite goaltenders, emphasizing skill refinement and tactical development. I also taught classroom courses within the high school.

Goalie Coach | Kensington Wild NB PEI U18 Major

2015-2021

My tenure as a full-time goalie coach with the Midget AAA Kensington Wild provided me with valuable experience in instructing, critiquing, and mentoring individual goalies. I also contributed significantly to the overall team's growth through video analysis and goal-scoring sessions.

Goalie Advisor | Team PEI Canada Winter Games Male & Female

2019, 2022

I had the honor of serving as a Goalie Advisor for Team PEI at the Canada Winter Games, working with elite-level goaltenders. This role required close collaboration with the coaching staff to nurture talent over a comprehensive two-year program.

Head Goalie Instructor | Andrews Hockey Growth Programs

2015-2018

My role as the Head Goalie Instructor at Andrews Hockey Growth Programs allowed me to work with a diverse range of students aged 5 to 18. During this time, I actively contributed to curriculum development, devised innovative on and off-ice drills, supervised fitness programs, and provided regular progress reports to parents.

Goalie/Video Coach | Team Atlantic Female U18 National Championship

2017 and 2023

I had the privilege of taking on dual responsibilities as both a goalie coach and video coach for Team Atlantic Female U18 National Championship teams. This multifaceted role involved goalie scouting, instruction, in-game adjustments, and comprehensive video coverage and analysis to support the coaching staff's objectives.

My coaching journey has been a rewarding one, marked by a commitment to helping goaltenders excel and a willingness to collaborate with new individuals who share a passion for the game of hockey
