OVERVIEW
Manual Cine does not require an account, and we do not sell personal information. The app is a video camera with manual controls (frame rate, shutter angle, ISO, focus, white balance). It records video clips into the app's own storage, can add them to your photo library when you choose, and keeps your settings, saved looks, and clip list in the app's storage on your device. It also uses Google services for analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and advertising.
CAMERA, MICROPHONE, AND PHOTOS
Camera: the app asks for camera access on the Camera screen when you tap "Allow camera". The camera runs while the Camera screen is open and the app is in the foreground, to show the picture and record video. If you decline, the Camera screen explains that camera access is needed and offers a button to open Settings; the Library and Device screens still work.
Microphone: when the Sound setting is on (the default), the app asks for microphone access on the Camera screen after camera access is granted, before you record. The microphone is used only while a recording is running, to record sound into that clip. If you decline, or if you turn Sound off, clips are recorded without sound.
Clips are written as MP4 files, with a small preview image, into a "clips" folder inside the app's private documents folder. The app does not add location or GPS data to your clips and does not request location permission. Clips are not uploaded to the developer or to any server by the app.
Photo library: with the "Add each clip" setting (on by default), each saved clip is added to your photo library (Photos on iOS, the gallery on Android); you can also add a clip from the Library screen. On iOS the app asks only for permission to add items; it does not read, change, or delete your existing photos or videos. If you decline, the clip stays in the app and you can add it later. If you use Share on the Library screen, the clip file is passed to the app or service you pick, and what happens next is governed by that app or service.
The app also reads the accelerometer while the Camera screen is open, to show the level and to set the recording orientation. These readings are not stored.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The app stores one data record in its local app storage with:
- Camera settings: lens, resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate level, ISO, shutter, exposure compensation and locks, focus, white balance, sound on/off, grid, frame lines, level, zebra, focus peaking, histogram, and the "Add each clip" choice.
- Saved looks (presets): up to 40, each with the name you give it, the look's camera values, and the time it was saved.
- The clip list: up to 2,000 entries, each with the clip's file location in the app, its preview image location, recording time, status, length, file size, resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, whether it has sound, a short summary of the settings used (for example ISO, shutter angle, and white balance), and whether it was added to the photo library. When the list is full, the app asks you to delete clips before recording more.
To protect against data loss, the app keeps up to 3 daily snapshots of this record, and a backup copy whenever the record is found damaged or before a restore replaces it. Snapshots and backups contain settings, presets, and the clip list, not the video files.
The app may also store basic operating information such as app-use count, whether the review prompt was shown, and cached advertising or More Apps configuration.
The developer does not run a server that receives your clips, presets, or settings. The app reads developer-controlled advertising settings and a More Apps list (including app icons loaded from the internet) from Google Cloud Firestore, but it does not upload your clips, presets, or settings there.
ANALYTICS, CRASH REPORTING, AND ADS
Google Firebase Analytics may process limited app-usage and technical information, such as app launches, sessions and their count, tab and menu interactions, review prompts, app version, device type, and app-instance identifiers. Recording events include only technical values: the resolution width, frame rate, and codec when a recording starts; the stop reason and length in seconds when a clip is saved; an error code and the stop reason when a recording fails; and a flag when a clip is added to the photo library. Events also record your App Tracking Transparency answer on iOS, when the launch ad is shown, and ad revenue values. They do not include video, sound, preset names, or file names.
Google Firebase Crashlytics may process crash reports and related technical information needed to diagnose app problems.
The app shows ads through Google AdMob (banner, interstitial, app-open, and a native ad in the exit dialog). Google may process advertising identifiers and device, app, consent, network, and ad-performance information to provide and measure ads, and may use an IP address to estimate an approximate location. The banner ad appears only on the Library screen. The app does not start full-screen ads (interstitial and app-open) while the Camera screen is open or while you record; an app-open ad may appear at launch before the camera opens.
PERMISSIONS AND ADVERTISING CHOICES
Feature permissions: camera, microphone (for sound in clips), and on iOS permission to add to the photo library. On Android, adding clips uses no media read permission. The app does not request location, contacts, Bluetooth, health data, or notifications.
Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), Google's consent message (UMP) is shown first, and personalized advertising stays off unless your choice allows it. On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown only after that step and only when personalized advertising is allowed. If tracking is not allowed, the IDFA is not available to the app or its ad partners. If the consent step fails with an error, the app may still request non-personalized ads, and the tracking prompt is not shown at launch (it can appear later only if you open Privacy choices and allow personalized ads). The app works whatever you choose.
You can change camera, microphone, photo, and tracking permissions in your device Settings at any time. Where Google requires it, the app menu shows "Privacy choices", which reopens the consent message so you can change your advertising choice.
STORAGE AND YOUR CONTROL
You can delete a clip on the Library screen; this removes the clip file, its preview image, and its entry from the current clip list; earlier snapshots and backups may still contain that entry (not the video). A copy already added to your photo library is not affected; manage it in the Photos or Gallery app. You can delete saved looks in the Presets sheet on the Camera screen. "Restore a backup" in the menu backs up the current record, then replaces your settings, presets, and clip list with an earlier snapshot or backup; clips recorded after that snapshot are then no longer listed, but their files stay in the app's storage until you clear the app's data or delete the app. Snapshots and backups cannot be deleted one by one in the app. You can also clear the app's data on Android or delete the app.
On Android, app backup is allowed (allowBackup), and on iOS app data can be part of device backups, so local data, including recorded clips, may be included in an Apple, Google, or device backup depending on your backup settings. Uninstalling normally removes the app's active copy but may not remove an older backup, and it does not remove videos added to your photo library or shared elsewhere.
Because we do not receive your clips or settings, we cannot delete them for you; the controls above, clearing the app's data, or deleting the app remove them from the app. For questions about data processed by Google, or to ask us for help with a privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Data processed by Google is retained according to its service settings and policies. We use these services under their applicable terms, and we ensure that third-party service providers with whom we share user data provide the same or equal protection of that data as stated in this policy.

SECURITY
Clips and saved data are kept in the app's private storage on your device, which the operating system protects from other apps; they are not separately encrypted by the app, so protect your device with a passcode. Apart from the limited analytics events described above, the app does not upload your saved data or clips. Communication between the app and Google services uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Respect other people's privacy and follow local laws when you film or record sound, and ask for consent where it is required. Exposure, level, and histogram readouts are approximate guides. Which manual controls, frame rates, and formats are available depends on your device's camera.
CHILDREN
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
CHANGES
We may update this policy if the app or its services change. The date above shows the latest revision.
